Do you specialise in our industry?
We do not claim to be specialists in any particular industry. However, because our methodology works across any industry and because we conduct so many projects we have multiple experiences in most industries.

How likely are we to do a deal using your services?
Of the projects we take on, around 80% actually transact. The
remaining 20% is usually down to changes in our clients financial or commercial position. We would expect to get to at least the stage of submitting offers on all package projects.
How long will it be before we do a deal?
The time taken to complete a project varies, depending on the specific requirements of the investor (If you are looking for an £80 million Italian telecommunications company the deal is likely to take longer than if you are looking for a £2 million commercial printer in the UK.) However, on average a cradle to grave projects take 5-9 months from brief to completion.
Who will work on my project?
A team of permanent and experienced researchers, approach workers and negotiators, headed up by a client manager. Each team member is an integral part of our organisation, performing their particular roles on a daily basis, they are not gap year students. The idea of a client manager is so that you have one main point of contact, although you are able and likely to interact with individuals if you so wish.
What is the typical size of deal you work on?
We work across a very large spectrum of deals, from £0.5m to £500m, generally though most of our deals fall between £5m and £100m.Our comprehensive approach to acquisition is delivered on all projects, regardless of size.
Is there a conflict of interest between AI and BCMS?
No. AI conducts all research from scratch, which means we do not check to see what BCMS 'have on their books' so to speak. If a BCMS client fit's the profile and is naturally thrown up during the research, there is no reason why an AI client cannot purchase this company.
Can you provide funding?
Yes, we can help with funding, through our contacts with banks, business angels, private investors and advisors.
Can you provide legal advice?
We can give you the benefit of our commercial experience from a legal perspective and signpost you to one of our corporate legal partners for official legal documents and contracts, e.g. sale purchase agreements etc.
We do not financially benefit from referring work to our legal partners, the advantage is that deals go through more smoothly and rapidly with a reputable and cooperative legal team.
Can you provide due-diligence?
We cover commercial aspects of due-diligence and form a relationship with the shareholders which encourages a very open and transparent approach, revealing any skeletons as early as possible, thus reducing the amount of due diligence required later. We can signpost you towards one of our corporate partners for the purpose of due diligence.
How much does your service cost?
That depends on your requirements. We do not publish our charges for competitive reasons. Our fee structure is very transparent and our modular offering allows you to make the most of your budget by purchasing only the expertise you require.

Can I work with other advisors too?
Yes, we do not practice exclusivity because we are confident that you will make a purchase through us rather than anyone else. This means that we only take a fee for deals generated through our own labours.
What about confidentiality?
It goes without saying that confidentiality is paramount in the M&A industry. All of our staff are trained to adhere to strict confidential policies and processes. There are numerous confidentiality policies built throughout our group, from making confidential approaches and setting up NDA's and to card secure door entry.
I have targets already in mind, can you approach them?
Yes, many of our clients ask us to approach specific targets on their behalf. This may be for obvious commercial competitive reasons or it could be that they have previously made an approach and not got anywhere. Our experience and reputation in the industry means that people will talk to us and we can often get you to the table with targets who have previously said no.
Do you work abroad?
Yes, we have the capability and experience to conduct projects globally, regardless of where the client is based and where they are focusing their acquisition efforts.
